About This Spot

Welcome to Café Carneiro, a charming café nestled in the scenic Caminho de, Portugal, where culinary delight meets traditional charm. This cozy spot is the perfect pitstop for pilgrims and locals alike, ready to refuel with hearty meals after exploring the stunning landscapes of the region.

At Café Carneiro, you are treated to a delightful fusion of Portuguese flavors that truly resonate with the spirit of the region. The menu is a celebration of hearty home-cooked dishes that include tender vitela (veal) served with flavorful, garden-fresh tomato, and crispy, perfectly roasted potatoes that bring a taste of authenticity to your plate. For those who fancy seafood, the café's offering of fish paired with zesty black beans and pinto beans is nothing short of a culinary embrace, designed to satisfy and nourish after a long day's hike.

As you step inside, the inviting atmosphere wraps around you like a warm hug. The welcoming staff will greet you with genuine smiles, making you feel as though you’re dining with friends. The lively vibe is punctuated by the sound of cheerful conversation, and the aroma of delicious food wafts through the air, setting a perfect stage for a delightful meal. Whether you're taking a quick break or enjoy lingering over your lunch, the ambiance enhances the experience immensely.

Café Carneiro understands the value of affordability without compromising on quality, as reflected in the rave reviews from satisfied customers. One hiker, Enlik, noted it as a “perfect place to eat before the long distance hiking” and praised the friendly staff and affordable prices. Another patron, Pedro Gomes, raved about the “tender and flavorful vitela” and lauded the local wine served in Malmas, recommending the experience as an integral part of the dining journey.

It’s not just about the food; it's about the community and connection that it fosters. The ambiance and enticing snacks, like their sumptuous presunto (cured ham), contribute to the overall happiness that diners feel in this quaint café. Audinga echoed this sentiment with their delight in the “huge portions” that are as generous as the hospitality.

So whether you're on the Camino or simply exploring the beautiful surroundings of Ponte de Lima, make sure to stop by Café Carneiro for a meal that invigorates the body and soul. With its scrumptious offerings, welcoming atmosphere, and commendable prices, it’s an experience you won’t want to miss!

Had lunch during my camino and it's perfect place to eat before the long distance hiking from Ponte de Lima to Rubiaes. The staff is very friendly and the price is affordable :)

Very pleasant surprise. Set menu with either beef steak or breaded cod. Came with a drink, rice, black beans, pinto beans with rice, salad and rolls. All were very good and only €6 per person. Beer is a very good draft beer. Very fast service. Perfect for our hiking group of six.
